Comments: Since I was young, I lived with a severe cubitus varus deformity with my right arm, increasing my lack in self confidence and prohibiting me from lifting weights and walking effectively. After going to many specialists throughout my life to get the corrective surgery, I had been told numerous times that the surgery was too risky and that I should continue living with my deformity.
When I finally met Dr. Emilie Cheung, she treated me like family. Naturally having tons of questions, Emilie was able to communicate to my concerns, research the treatment, and outline a plan. Dr. Cheung informed me that she had never performed the complex osteotomy required to correct my right arm. Even still, she remained confident in her abilities, described her approach from start to finish, and in the end, changed my life by performing the corrective surgery.
In follow up visits, Dr Cheung took all measures to ensure proper healing. And today (7 years after my surgery) I live with with no nerve damage, no pain, full arm mobility/motor function, and a pretty cool scar.
I want to thank Emilie Cheung again for changing my life, and recommend anyone experiencing a similar deformity (or any upper extremity issue) to feel confident in her abilities and reach out.
